Four steps,
one round trip.
From kickoff to scope letter without leaving the app — no spreadsheets to wrangle, no re-keying between tools.
Create the job
Name, client, bid date, location. 60 seconds, and you've got a fresh job open — ready for takeoff.
Walk & talk the takeoff
Scan the QR code with your phone to pair it as a mic. Speak the pieces as you read the drawings. Every mark lands in your grid, priced by unit weight, as you go.
Buyout & cost recap
Add plate, shapes, and misc steel to the buyout. Costs, labor, and markups roll up into a single bid number. Flip between bid and scope views in one click.
Send the scope letter
A polished 3-page scope letter — with your logo and boilerplate — generates as a PDF. Optional takeoff appendix attaches in the same file.
Your phone
is the mic.
Open a job on your computer. Scan the QR code with your phone and it's paired as a hands-free mic — no app install, no Bluetooth pairing, no headset fumbling.
Speak the pieces the way you'd dictate to a helper: “five W12 by 26 at twenty-two feet.” Pieces land in your takeoff grid as you say them, priced by unit weight from a 1,229-part catalog.
- QR pair any phone — iPhone, Android, Chrome, Safari
- Section keywords split your takeoff into North / South / etc. on the fly
- Auto unit-weight lookup for W, HSS, L, C, MC, plate, bolts, anchors
- Live status bar on the computer so you always see what was heard
Built for structural steel,
not generic construction.
Every feature is shaped around how steel estimators actually work — not re-skinned from a general-purpose bid tool.
1,229-part catalog
W, HSS, L, C, MC shapes; plates; bolts; anchors. Unit weight auto-populates so you never re-type a line.
Buyout pricing
Plate, shapes, misc steel — line-item cost math with labor hours and markup, so your numbers tie out on the bid sheet.
Scope letter generator
Three-page PDF with your logo, your boilerplate, and auto-filled job details. Optional takeoff appendix bundled in.
Bid ↔ Scope view toggle
One click hides every cost, unit price, and markup. Share your screen with the GC without flashing your margins.
Excel + PDF exports
Takeoff and buyout drop cleanly into .xlsx. Scope letter and cost recap export as polished PDFs. Fits into your existing workflow.
Phone-as-mic via QR
No app install, no headset. Scan the QR on your laptop and your phone becomes the jobsite microphone. Pair in five seconds.
Steel shops
that bid a lot.
SteelCaller is built for structural steel subcontractors and fabricators — the shops churning through bid invitations every week, trying to turn drawings into numbers faster than the competition.
If you're an estimator at a 5-to-50-person shop doing miscellaneous and structural steel, stairs, rails, and embeds — this was built for you. If you're bidding one strip-mall a quarter in Excel and it works fine, you probably don't need this yet.
One plan.

Answers to the
questions we actually get.
What do I need to get started?
A laptop with Chrome (or any modern browser), a phone with a mic, and an internet connection. That's it. No installs, no plugins, no headset. You drive SteelCaller from the computer and your phone handles the voice capture.
Does the voice takeoff work offline?
No — voice parsing needs a connection because it's routed through our AI parser to extract marks, quantities, and lengths. In practice this is almost never a problem since you're working off digital drawings anyway, but it's something to know.
How accurate is the voice parser on trade language?
It's trained on the way estimators actually talk — "W 12 by 26 at twenty two feet" becomes W12×26 @ 22'-0" cleanly. Every parsed line shows up in the grid where you can edit it in one click, and the live status bar echoes what was heard so you catch misses as they happen.
Can I import my existing takeoffs or cost data?
Not yet. Right now every job starts fresh. We export cleanly to Excel so you can carry data out, but importing from existing spreadsheets is on the roadmap — not launch-ready.
How much does it cost?
SteelCaller Estimate is $249/month, or $199/month when you pay annually (billed $2,390/year — you save $598). Every plan includes every feature: voice takeoff, buyout, scope letters, exports, the full catalog, and all future updates. Full pricing details on the /pricing page.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from account settings in one click — no phone calls, no email chains. If you cancel during a paid month (or paid year), you keep full access through the end of that period, then your account pauses. Your data stays exportable for 30 days after cancellation so nothing gets lost.
Who owns my data?
You do. Every job, takeoff, cost number, and scope letter is yours and exportable to Excel or PDF at any time. If you ever cancel your account, you can take everything with you.
